The Zambia Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS) successfully airlifted a 33-year-old man to Lusaka for advanced medical intervention after he sustained multiple gunshot wounds during an aggravated robbery.
The incident is said to have occurred on the evening of July 26, 2025, at a residence along the Mufulira–Ndola Road.
According to initial reports, the patient suffered penetrating trauma from gunshot wounds, with entry points noted on his right shoulder and abdominal region.
He received initial stabilization at Ronald Ross General Hospital before his urgent transfer.
The medical evacuation was carried out using the ZFDS aircraft, on Monday,28th July,2025.
The aircraft departed Ndola at 06:31 hours, made a brief reposition via Southdowns at 07:05 hours where the patient was picked, and landed in Lusaka at 08:53 hours.
Upon arrival in Lusaka, and subsequent transport to the referral hospital, the patient was reported to have stable vital signs.
This mission highlights the critical importance of rapid aeromedical evacuation in severe trauma cases, where quick access to specialized care significantly improves patient survival and recovery.
