….It is a painful indictment of failed leadership and squandered opportunities for grace….
By Glen Mpani
After today’s court decision halting the burial of former President Lungu, one thing is clear: this moment is no longer just about protocol.
It is a painful indictment of failed leadership and squandered opportunities for grace.
This never had to become a legal standoff. You do not wrestle with mourning families. You do not politicize the dead. And you certainly do not turn burial into a battlefield.
Yes, the former president may have erred in his time—but must dignity be denied in death? Must families plead for the right to bury their loved one in peace?
Let reason rise above resentment. Let compassion eclipse control.
Allow the family to bury. Allow a nation to mourn. And allow decency to return to our politics.
