The Copper Queens held their first full training session at Lanoria Club in Mohammédia on Tuesday evening, 10 days before the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2024 (to be played in 2025) kicks off in Morocco.
The evening session was characterised by high energy, good vibes and focused work, as the team got down to business under the soft glow of the Moroccan sun.
There were smiles all around as the players responded positively to the drills set up by the technical bench.
Coach Nora Häuptle led the session, which included tactical and physical routines aimed at sharpening the team’s shape and cohesiveness ahead of the group opener against hosts Morocco on 5 July at the newly built Olympic stadium in Rabat.
Adding to the positive atmosphere was the arrival of Orlando Pride duo Grace Chanda and Prisca Chilufya, whose presence adds depth and attacking flair to the squad. Their arrival brings the full complement of foreign-based players to completion.
Zambia is in Group A alongside Morocco, Senegal and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
After the Morocco clash, the Copper Queens will face Senegal on 9 July and DR Congo on 12 July, with both matches scheduled for El Bachir Stadium in Mohammédia.
